Description
The very early Ferraris had the exhaust system mounted solidly to the chassis. They later changed to a type of hanger with metal ends and flexible center section made of belting or truck tire sidewalls. The early ones were what are called the “Center-pull” design. In this configuration the four steel components are all the same design. These end pieces are all bent so that the force goes through the center of the assembly. This design was originally painted black until the mid 1950s when a change was made toa cadmium finish. Later, about 1962 during the run of the 250 GTEs the hanger design was changed to the more common “Side-Pull” arrangement. Cadmium – Plated Center – Pull Exhaust Hangers
