$30.00The 250 series cars built by PininFarina often used a special type of hose clamps on the large air duct hoses. These clamps are called “Diament” based on the manufacturer’s logo which is sometimes found on the body of the clamp. These clamps are very similar to the normal Copiglia clamps but they have a special body with a small set screw which is used to secure the strap once the clamp is tightened. 97 | Carburetor drip trays
$1,200.00The early inside plug cars often used drip trays under the carburetors to keep any leaked gasoline away from the center of the engine blcok and the spark plugs. These drip trays were connected by short pieces of clear plastic tubing to an aluminum tubing manifold then to a longer piece of clear hose which led down the rear of the engine around the bell housing. These pieces are made by the original craftsmen in Italy and are perfect. There is a good photograph of one of the drip trays being fitted to an engine in the Ferrari factory on page 61 of the wonderful book Modena Racing Memories. 98 | Race car mirror
$225.00All of the Italian sports racers used some type of hand-made aluminum mirrors. These are made from the pattern used on the mid-fifties Ferraris and Maseratis through the early 1960s. The correct Italian style mirrors can be distinguished by a little spring clip that is used to retain the glass. Sometimes they were painted but often they were left with a brushed aluminum finish. There are good photos of these mirrors on the 335S racers on pgs. 92 and 94 of the beautiful book A Champion’s View by Phil Hill. 1950s Style Racing Mirror.

99 | Valve stem protectors
$310.00These small cylindrical pieces were used on the road-going cars to protect the innertube valve stems from cuts from debris or stones on the road. My 250 Cabriolet had them and I have seen them on other cars as late as the 365 2+2s. I believe that they were supplied by Pirelli and only used on cars with Pirelli tires. These sleeves are tin-plated, the retaining knurled nuts are chrome-plated as are the valve stem caps. I have seen original pieces with several different finishes including some painted sleeves on a very original 330 2+2. 100-1.Button – Type grease fittings (5 X 0.8mm)
$10.00Ferrari used these button-type grease fittings from the very earliest cars until the 275’s. During the production of the 250 series cars some of the pieces purchased from outside suppliers used the normal snap-on type. The sealed tie rod ends are a good example showing that a lot of the later cars used both types of grease fittings. The button type grease fittings were made of brass and plated with a very thin layer of nickel. The nickel finish quickly wore off due to dust and dirt on the road plus the factory recommended 2,500 mile lubrication schedule. The button type grease fittings all used the same dimension for the shaft and head but there was a variety of thread sizes. 5 x 0.8mm: these were used on the very early cars such as the 166s.
